Wishful Thinking: Books I Want To Read NOW...

So, I’m done with college. At least for this semester I am, and I am home! Surrounded by all my books and now I am inflicted with what I call “Wishful Reads.”

It’s true, lovelies. I want to read all the books not on my next pile list. I knew this was going to happen. I am such a mood reader, and a book cheater (shhh! I read multiple books at once, and feel giddy when I read a book in secret that isn’t a review copy or something.)

I have Cat Hellisen’s When The Sea is Rising Red sitting next to me and I’ve read the first few pages—and yeah, it isn’t on the list. It’s just such a gorgeous little book that I want to crawl into my closet to find out what happens. I mean, how can you avoid a gorgeous book like so when THIS happens on the second page?

Ilven refuses to look at me. She twists the new silver band on her smallest finger around and around until the skin is red. I cannot draw my gaze away from this tiny detail that has changed everything between us.
"We have many preparations to make," says Lady Malker. There is something frosty about her, and when she talks I expect to feel her breath against my face like a winter seagale. Instead, her voice is calm and quiet, but hidden under it are snake-hisses and sneers. "Ilven will not be available for your games today, Felicita, dear." There is a subtle emphasis on games and dear. Nothing overt—I am, after all, from House Pelim—but enough for me to know that Malker are determined to claw their way up to their old level on the social scale. It's a warning of sorts.
I look past Lady Malker, ignoring her.

(And yes, it is written that gorgeously. How am I resisting its siren call?!)

I’m also staring at Richelle Mead’s Vampire Academy and realizing how much I miss Rose and Dimitri and how much I want to read their story again.

I’m also wanting to read a short book, like Just Your Average Princess, or Miles From Ordinary, or even reread If I Stay. I'm not even going to say it, so this sentence doesn't exist, but When The Sea is Rising Red would fit in this category, too, as it only has 296 pages. But I didn't say that. Because if I did, that would mean I have twice the ideas to read it... and oh man, let's all just admit it: I am so going to shatter and read When The Sea is Rising Red. Maybe not today, but sometime soon. I know I will.

Sigh, all these books are tempting me to read books not my list! At least I’ll know what books to add to my list after I read the ten? Except I have a feeling I’ll be wanting to read other books if I add the ones I mentioned to my list…

What are you wanting to read that you can’t?

  3. I just started doing the list of 5 thingys. I've read two on it, and three not... I don't even know.

I really enjoyed When the Sea is Rising Red! It took longer than I expected but Cat's writing was just so darn pretty I didn't even mind getting lost a couple of times.
